In line with their strategy of maintaining continuous dialogue between key partners in the travel industry, the Board of the Portuguese Association of Travel and Tourism Agencies (APAVT) and the Board of Directors of the SATA Group convened yesterday in Ponta Delgada.
Among other agenda items, the two entities discussed new and improved approaches to support SATA passengers and customers, considering the recent adjustments made to the Azorean Airlines group’s customer service channels. Both SATA and APAVT recognize the travel agency network is a natural solution for this context.
As a result, they agreed to collaborate on promoting the use of the airline’s service channels (such as the Contact Center or airport offices) while encouraging customers to consider the complementary services provided by travel agencies.
This shared vision does not entail, nor is it intended to entail, any changes to the existing financial agreements between SATA and the travel agencies. “It was a productive meeting where we made progress on several agenda points. More importantly, it was an excellent opportunity for both entities to engage in open and honest dialogue. We are significant players in the archipelago, and it is beneficial for tourism we can communicate and find common solutions to the current challenges,” said Pedro Costa Ferreira, President of APAVT.
Rui Coutinho, SATA Group Chairman, added, “This meeting provided an opportunity to analyze the main changes implemented recently, following our decisions to adjust customer service. We are committed to continuing this work together. Travel agents are crucial partners for the SATA Group, and their proximity to our customers has been essential in meeting their needs.”
