SATA Group’s companies distinguished with Silver Medal in the EcoVadis Index

SATA Group companies were awarded the Silver Medal in the EcoVadis Index, which considers companies' performance in crucial areas such as the Environment, Human Rights and Working Conditions, Ethics and Supplier Responsibility.

This distinction demonstrates its commitment to sustainability and social responsibility, as well as its commitment to maintaining high standards in these areas.

The SATA Group has more than thirty projects that aim to annually improve the ESG (Environmental, Social and Governance) indicators of the three companies that compose the group.

Among the several projects, the pioneering spirit of SATA’s airlines in obtaining IEnvA Certification from IATA stands out, having been the first airlines in Portugal to obtain certification in the environmental sustainability program of IATA (International Air Transport Association). In addition to this recognition, two more certifications were achieved: obtaining the IWT (Illegal Wildlife Trade Certificate) certification, which is based on the creation of tools to help combat the illegal trade in wild animals, and obtaining the Quality certification of the SATA ICOP Program, voluntary compensation of Carbon Emissions, to which more than eight thousand passengers contributed.

In the social sphere, 12 internal projects were developed, which also benefited the community where the companies are located. Food, clothing and toy collection campaigns; coastal cleaning campaigns, in partnership with local entities; in addition to supporting, through benefits for transporting people and cargo, a very significant set of cultural, sporting, and/or educational activities taking place in the Azores Archipelago. With the aim of promoting the physical and mental balance of workers, the ambitious corporate program called SATA Saudável was also promoted, which seeks to promote prevention and intervention in the important area of mental health.

With a view to successively exceeding sustainable development goals, eight structuring projects were also carried out with future influence on improving ESG management indicators. The SATA Group's management principles are closer to the UN's Sustainable Development Goals. These are principles that are universal for companies that assume responsibility for the harmonious development of the regions where they operate.
