What is a Portable Oxygen Concentrator (POC)?
A Portable Oxygen concentrator is an electronic device used to provide oxygen at a substantially higher concentration than that of ambient air and is an alternative to using compressed oxygen cylinders. POCs allow chronic oxygen therapy patients to maintain their mobility and travel freely.
Acceptance of Portable Oxygen Concentrators (POC)
To be approved for use onboard a SATA flight, your POC must meet the following criteria:
- It displays a manufacturer’s label that indicates the device conforms to all applicable FAA (Federal Aviation Administration) acceptance criteria for POC carriage and use on board aircraft.
- The device appears on the list of approved POC models by FAA and accepted by SATA Airlines for use in-flight (if your POC is not included in the list, it will be analyzed by us to be able to transport and use permit on board of our aircraft).
