Proper conservation of SATA's historical archives has been a matter of deep concern over the last decades. With that subject in mind and on the agenda for 2021, the SATA Board of Directors has finally signed a collaboration protocol with the Public Library and Regional Archive of Ponta Delgada to ensure the appropriate conservation and physical integrity of the documents (preservation), avoiding its degradation. Considering the scope of the protocol signed, from now on, SATA's archives will be carefully saved by the Public entity, the Regional Archive and Public Library of Ponta Delgada (BPARPD - Biblioteca Pública e Arquivo Regional de Ponta Delgada).
Upon the documents transfer, BPARPD will be responsible for proceeding with the selection and archival description of the documentation. The goal is to preserve the document collection and make it available for future public consultation.
This is undoubtedly a symbolic moment for SATA Group and its collective memory. And thanks to the interest and commitment of the Public Library and Regional Archive of Ponta Delgada, it is now possible to anticipate a better future for the archives of the airline group.
